Week 5-BALT 4361-Careers in the AI Field
Artificial Intelligence is becoming the way most industries across the world are embracing to bring new strategies in their operations. With emergence of newer AI applications such as machine learning, natural language processing and robotics, there is need for increased human resource in this area. The terms AI is being applied in almost all sectors in the economy such as the health sector, the financial sector, the retail sector and many others, this has created a lot of employment for professionals in this field.
There is essentially endless demand for AI, for research or engineering or consulting, each with its own required skill set of technical and analytical abilities. AI researchers for example aim to expand the body of knowledge of what is capable through artificial intelligence while machine learning engineers design models to analyze data for decision making. Data scientists, on the same, utilize machine learning and statistical analysis to understand and establish analytical patterns within flows of data to improve the decision-making process in companies. AI product managers act as intermediaries that translate the requirements of technical teams into business goals when it comes to AI products.
Natural language processing engineers develop AI systems while robotics engineers build them AI systems that either physically exist in the world of interacts with it. Some experts in AI research focus on ethical implications of AI’s employment because the responsible and transparent use of AI in several industries becomes an issue. Further, AI advisors offer direction to organizations on how best to apply AI in their businesses, not forgetting computer vision engineers that specialize in applying artificial intelligence in visual data.
AI operations specialists manage the supporting environment of AI solutions, to manage and coordinate with ease of deployment and expansion. There is considerable overlapping of skills required across these positions where the candidates must have a fluency in programming languages such as Python, a fair understanding of dual learning frameworks, good mathematical skills, and proficiency in data handling. There are many routes to success in the AI profession, including the completion of a Bachelor’s degree and entry into the profession, the acquisition of a Master’s or PhD and progression up the career ladder, and the ability to take specialized online courses and gain certifications in a subject.
