Week 6-BALT 4361- Fun with AI(Math)
I never liked Math at all, and I still don't. But I also know the importance of AI and how knowing about AI or maybe a career in AI could be a very good financial decision. I don't think you absolutely need to do Masters in AI in order to keep up with AI. You can leverage AI to your advantage if you want to start a business or provide AI services built by others and sell it to businesses. It usually requires knowledge about AI but not necessarily a Masters. Usually what happens is that you don't end up using a lot of materials taught in the real world. AI is something where you can't just do a Masters and that's going to be it like the rest of the careers. AI is something where you have to constantly learn and develop your skills because it changes very rapidly. It is a never-ending learning cycle, and you have to keep up otherwise you will fall behind.
I also understand the important of Math in AI as the basis of AI is Math and it is the language of artificial intelligence. It supplies the necessary methods and models for encoding, modelling and manipulating information in a fashion that replicates human thinking. Multiplication, from data mining and machine learning algorithms, from neural networks, from natural language processing, the math, in turn, is vital to every aspect of AI education. Mathematics is crucial in AI, especially statistics, linear algebra, calculus and probability, therefore these topics must be fully studied by anyone intending to work in the field.
Artificial intelligence has plenty of fields of employment and everybody can find his or her piece of interesting work to do. This is why the field of artificial intelligence has so much opportunities that anyone could become interested in such field, from designing robots, implementing machine learning algorithms or even enter the debate about ethical uses of AI. Some of the common jobs in AI are; machine learning engineers, data scientists, AI researcher, natural language processing engineer, computer vision engineer, robotics engineer, AI product managers, AI ethical specialists, AI business analyst & AI software developer. These roles give so much scope in terms of responsibilities and challenges so that people can contribute in the growth of new AI technology in the numerous fields.
